Case Study Competition
Update: The case study competition has been closed. Join us at the conference to see the winning entries, or watch the Business/Education Partnership Forum to see them posted after the event.
DeHavilland Associates, producer of the Effective Education Partnerships Conference, is presenting three case study competitions for practitioners in the field of business-education partnerships. They include:
- For businesses - Making the Case: Everyone is supposed to benefit from Sam Browning's workforce development program. So why isn't everyone on board? (Access Case Study 1 in PDF format here)
- For schools/districts - A Fresh Start:: New leadership means new opportunities for Julie Newman's partnership program. Can she overcome barriers created in the past to build a stronger program? (Access Case Study 2 in PDF format here)
- For partnerships/coalitions - Correcting Course: Declining membership, internal friction, and a mix of programs that no one seems happy with. What can Erin Wofford do to return CBEC to its glory days? (Access Case Study 3 in PDF format here)
Each case study presents a hypothetical challenge related to building strong partnerships or programs. In your entry, you must identify the key issues and explain how you would address the challenges presented in the study. Responses must be realistic (i.e., no million-dollar grants from the sky), and no more than 1,000 words.
Prizes:
$500 for first prize, $250 for second prize, in each of the three categories, along with recognition at the conference. Case studies and winning entries will be the subject of a round of breakout sessions at the conference, and will be published in a booklet distributed at the conference and through DeHavilland Associates’ website properties.
Deadline:
Deadline for receipt of submissions is May 15, 2008. Winners will be announced at the conference, which will be held July 10-11, 2008 in Fairfax, VA.
Eligibility:
You may submit a response to any of the three case studies; one entry per person. DeHavilland Associates employees, and facilitators of the case study breakout sessions at the event, are ineligible. Entries accepted from US residents only. Entrants do not have to attend the 2008 conference to enter or win.

You can submit your entry by email to brett@dehavillandassociates.com. To enter by mail, send to DeHavilland Associates, Attn: Case Study Competition, 9700 Research Drive, Suite 123; Charlotte, NC 28262. |
